Late Moves - Director

An innocent drink between two old friends reveals an infatuation with the past, a fear of the present, and the possibility of a future.

With Late Moves, we set out to make a sincere romantic comedy that didn’t suck. This led us to common experiences of moments we’ve all shared that felt cinematic at the time – missed opportunities, near kisses, reunions. Almost immediately we knew what we wanted to capture: the intimacy of a friendship that walks the line between platonic and romantic.

We wanted to really strip things back, with a style that wasn’t showy and just focused on capturing the chemistry between two naturally funny performers in a way that felt really honest and natural.

What we ended up with is an intimate picture of the push and pull of flirting through a combination of indecision, subtle suggestion, misreading of signals and moments of pure desire, pulling our characters towards a seemingly inevitable conclusion.
